Raising Giant Killers (Part 2, Notes)
“Now then, tell my servant David, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock, and appointed you ruler over my people Israel.’”
2 Samuel 7:8 (NIV)
Awareness of personal need takes us from comfort and complacency to sacrifice and learning.
2 Jesus called a little one to his side and said to them, 3 “Learn this well: Unless you dramatically change your way of thinking and become teachable, and learn about heaven’s kingdom realm with the wide-eyed wonder of a child, you will never be able to enter in. 4 Whoever continually humbles himself to become like this gentle child is the greatest one in heaven’s kingdom realm. 5 And if you tenderly care for this little one on my behalf, you are tenderly caring for me. 6 But if anyone abuses one of these little ones who believe in me, it would be better for him to have a heavy boulder tied around his neck and be hurled into the deepest sea than to face the punishment he deserves!
Matthew 18:2-6 (TPT)
13 The parents kept bringing their little children to Jesus so that he would lay his hands on them and bless them. But the disciples kept rebuking and scolding the people for doing it. 14 When Jesus saw what was happening, he became indignant with his disciples and said to them, “Let all the little children come to me and never hinder them! Don’t you know that God’s kingdom realm exists for such as these? 15 Listen to the truth I speak: Whoever does not open their arms to receive God’s kingdom like a teachable child will never enter it.” 16 Then he embraced each child, and laying his hands on them, he lovingly blessed each one.
Mark 10: 13-15 (TPT)
Following Jesus is ANYTHING but boring!
Children naturally:
- Love adventure
- Forgive
- Resilient
- Insatiable appetite for learning
- Value simple things
- Laugh easily
- Imitate others without inhibition
- Are humble
Jesus gives children the highest place of honor in the Kingdom. EVERYONE has access to that kind of greatness!Taking time for children is the same as receiving Jesus.
How we value and receive children says a lot about God’s desire and ability to manifest and dwell among us.
We are STEWARDS of a child’s life.
Fathers, don’t exasperate your children, but raise them up with loving discipline and counsel that brings the revelation of our Lord.
Ephesians 6:4 (TPT)
