THE JOURNEY: Part 7 – Glory & Honor

Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers.  42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”

John 4:39-42 (NIV)
  • God’s glory
  • Our glory
  • Honor

We must train ourselves to recognize the “gold” in others.

Metanoia = repentance…to change the way you think.

The root of dishonor is pride.

“Do not judge, so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is inyour own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.”

Matthew 7:1-5

“Therefore, from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer.”

2 Corinthians 5:16

Honor must be one of our core values.

“the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know… what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints”

Ephesians 1:18
