Grace to Give (Sermon Notes)

Luke 19:12-26 (NASB)

“A nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and then return. 13 And he called ten of his slaves, and gave them ten minas and said to them, ‘Do business with this [g]until I come back.’ 14 But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’ 15 When he returned, after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be called to him so that he might know what business they had done. 16 The first appeared, saying, ‘Master, your [j]mina has made ten minas more.’ 17 And he said to him, ‘Well done, good slave, because you have been faithful in a very little thing, you are to be in authority over ten cities.’ 18 The second came, saying, ‘Your mina, [l]master, has made five minas.’ 19 And he said to him also, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’ 20 Another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I kept put away in a handkerchief; 21 for I was afraid of you, because you are an exacting man; you take up what you did not lay down and reap what you did not sow.’ 22 He *said to him, ‘By your own words I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am an exacting man, taking up what I did not lay down and reaping what I did not sow? 23 Then why did you not put my money in the bank, and having come, I would have collected it with interest?’ 24 Then he said to the bystanders, ‘Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has the ten minas.’ 25 And they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas already.’ 26 I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.

The secret of having authority over cities lies in our ability to understand the power of wealth.

When God restores us, He gives us a mandate to use our own restoration to heal cities.

Isaiah 61:1-4 (MSG)

The Spirit of God, the Master, is on me
    because God anointed me.
He sent me to preach good news to the poor,
    heal the heartbroken,
Announce freedom to all captives,
    pardon all prisoners.
God sent me to announce the year of his grace—
a celebration of God’s destruction of our enemies—
and to comfort all who mourn,
To care for the needs of all who mourn in Zion,
give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes,
Messages of joy instead of news of doom,
a praising heart instead of a languid spirit.
Rename them “Oaks of Righteousness”
planted by God to display his glory.
They’ll rebuild the old ruins,
raise a new city out of the wreckage.
They’ll start over on the ruined cities,
take the rubble left behind and make it new.

God’s dream for you is so much bigger than yours!

The key to living a prosperous life is to invest our resources, time and gifts into others.

You cannot change your life, but if you change your THOUGHTS Jesus will transform your life.

“When we react, instead of respond to an abuse, we often create a worse doctrine that the one we reacted to.”
Bill Johnson

You must lose the compliant, religious rule keeper, black and white mindset to journey out into the world of mystery, miracles and divine mayhem.

The most creative, inventive, ingenious, imaginative, inspired, brilliant, resourceful, innovative, advanced ideas should flow from the sons and daughters of God.

Thinking is risky business.  Mindlessness, however, is sure death.

Hope for the future is the essential element to accessing unlimited thinking.

When I stop hoping, I am relegated to the dark night of the soul.

We are the light of the world, not the light of the Church.

We are commissioned to bring heavenly solutions to earthly situations.

Whenever we touch the world we bring with us the wealth of our Father’s Kingdom, the abundant life of His divine providence and His supernatural ability to do the impossible in every situation.
