EKKLESIA: REEMERGENCE – 2 (April 26th)

4 things we pulled out of Luke Chapter 10 last week:

  • Bless
  • Fellowship
  • Minister
  • Preach

Those break down to:

  • Motivational
  • Relational
  • Material/Physical
  • Spiritual

“Life & death are in the power of the tongue.”

Proverbs 18

“By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted.”

Proverbs 11

“The blessing of favor resting upon the righteous influences a city to lift it higher,  but wicked leaders tear it apart by their words.”

Proverbs 11 (TPT)

Rabbi Curt Landry says it’s an opportunity to reformat your thinking, refocus your purpose, and rethink our relationships with each other and with the Lord.

When the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev, heard that Israel was coming along the road to Atharim, he attacked the Israelites and captured some of them. 2 Then Israel made this vow to the Lord: “If you will deliver these people into our hands, we will totally destroy their cities.” 3 The Lord listened to Israel’s plea and gave the Canaanites over to them. They completely destroyed them and their towns; so the place was named Hormah. (meaning “destruction”)

4 They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way; 5 they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!”

6 Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. 7 The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.

8 The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived.

Numbers 21:1-9 (NIV)

Our tongues – our mouths – the words we speak – are crucial regarding whether we are promoting life or death.

Watch your words.  Guard your inputs – don’t dwell on negative news.  Don’t let anxiety, stress & fear overtake you.

And the tongue is a fire! It can be compared to the sum total of wickedness and is the most dangerous part of our human body. It corrupts the entire body and is a hellish flame! It releases a fire that can burn throughout the course of human existence.”

James 3:6

One of the last things Moses said to the nation of Israel before he passed away and they cross into the Promised Land – Deuteronomy 30:19-20

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; 20 that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days…”

Deuteronomy 30:19-20

Today that message is just as critical for this generation.  Choose life.  Be part of the solution.

“And just as Moses in the desert lifted up the brass replica of a snake on a pole for all the people to see and be healed, so the Son of Man is ready to be lifted up, 15 so that those who truly believe in him will not perish but be given eternal life. 16 For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.”

John 3:14-16 (TPT)

God’s got this, and He’s got YOU!
