Follower of Jesus Notes (Part 3, 1/23/2022)

“Mt. Climbers

The Bible is called “Living Water”

The people asked, and He brought quail, And satisfied them with the bread of heaven. 41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out; It ran in the dry places like a river.

Psalms 105:40-41 (NKJV)

and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

1st Corinthians 10:4 (NKJV)

A War of Words

1. Satan wants to “flood” us with his words.

2. Satan wants to “famish” us from God’s word.

3. Jesus wants to “fill” us with His word.

1. Satan tries to “flood” us with his words.

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpentof old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Revelation 12:9 (NKJV)

So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood.

Revelation 12:15 (NKJV)

It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock.

Luke 6:48-49 (NLT)

When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built.

49 But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house right on the ground, without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.”

The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters;

Proverbs 18:4 (NKJV)

You are snared by the words of your mouth; You are taken by the words of your mouth.

Proverbs 6:2 (NKJV)

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,

Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)

… When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.

Isaiah 59:19 (NKJV)

2. Satan wants to “famish” us from God’s word.

“Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God, “That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the Lord.

Amos 8:11 (NKJV)

The sower sows the word. 15 And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.

Mark 4:14 (NKJV)

3. Jesus wants to “fill” us with His word.

13 When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. 14 But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.

1st Corinthians 2:13-14 (NLT)

Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink.” He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food.

The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?”

10 Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

11 “But sir, you don’t have a rope or a bucket,” she said, “and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water? 12 And besides, do you think you’re greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoyed?”

13 Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. 14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”

15 “Please, sir,” the woman said, “give me this water! Then I’ll never be thirsty again, and I won’t have to come here to get water.

John 4:7-15 (NLT)
