Leaves Down, Roots Up – Love God & People (Jesus Center Stage, Pt 5)
It’s the final chapter in the Story of the Upside Down Tree – what a perfect picture of Restoration’s Purpose.
We are wrapping up with the most interactive part of the story, the two major plot points of the final saga – we plug into the purpose for which we were created.
LOVING GOD/LOVING MAN
Matthew 22:34-40
But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they met together to question him again. One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”
Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.
A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
It’s like all these religious experts were trying their best to trick Jesus. They were experts in the law – always had a comeback & Jesus says listen fellas – it’s like this.
Love God/Love People
That’s why you’re here. That’s why we have church. Isn’t it to love God? Absolutely – but let’s be honest: most people think church is all about them. THEIR needs…THEIR preferences. Nothing could be further from the truth. Jesus says its for GOD and OTHERS, right?
