OUTRAGEOUS GRATITUDE: Seeing With New Eyes (Notes)

When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man to Jesus, begging him to touch him and heal him. 23 So Jesus led him, as his sighted guide, outside the village. He placed his saliva on the man’s eyes and covered them with his hands. Then he asked him, “Now do you see anything?”24 “Yes,” he said. “My sight is coming back! I’m beginning to see people, but they look like trees—walking trees.”25 Jesus put his hands over the man’s eyes a second time and made him look up. The man opened his eyes wide and he could see everything perfectly. His eyesight was completely restored! 26 Then Jesus sent him home with these instructions: “Go home, but don’t tell anyone what happened, not even the people of your own village.”

Mark 8:22-26 TPT

It’s possible to have eyes and yet not see.

It’s possible to be touched by the Lord – to have an experience with the Lord – and yet not see clearly.

It’s possible that we need another touch to be fully healed and see as HE sees.

Adam and Eve knew only God’s goodness.  And they had just one rule.

Why have any rules?  Because it establishes that we have a ruler.

Do we have a ruler or are we going to be our own ruler?

Adam can no longer SEE God’s goodness. All he sees is fear, shame, nakedness & blame.

God says, “Who told you you were naked?”
Adam broke God’s rulership and now has a new ruler.

When the serpent looks at God he is afraid – ashamed – naked – exposed – vulnerable.

And now Adam sees through THOSE eyes.

Why? Because YOU wanted to make the rules.

If we’re going to have true Kingdom impact It is critical that we have the right eyes.

The serpent’s purpose was to pervert our perspective of the Father.

Then they asked, “Just who is this ‘Father’ of yours? Where is he?”  Jesus answered, “You wouldn’t ask that question if you knew who I am, or my Father. For if you knew me, you would recognize my Father too.”

John 8:9 TPT

When you become the one making the rules you better be checking your eyes.

When I’m looking at the Father through the serpents eyes I see him as someone is going to punish me or punish you. And I don’t want it to be ME! So I’ll punish YOU. It’s much safer.

We believe God uses His power to intimidate and dominate and control.  It’s not true – but we can make it true.

A culture of honor – powerful people working together to meet the needs of people and situations.

Outrageous gratitude requires healed eyes to view the Father, yourself and others through.

When we choose ‘our’ way, it’s hard to own up to the fact that we’re actually choosing the enemy as our ruler. A disciplined life is a choice. Each day, each moment, each thought, all the various circumstances. THANKS be to God for giving us a HELPER!
