RAISING GIANT KILLERS – Part 5: PEACE & LOVE (Notes)

We are builders of families, individuals and legacies.

Are we willing to pay the price by using the highest quality building blocks available to us?

Building Block #1 – LOVE

4 Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. 5 Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. 6 Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. 7 Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.

I Corinthians 13:4-7 (TPT)

Love that requires nothing in return is called perfect love.

  • Husband – LOVE
  • Wife – RESPECT

We love because He first loved us.

Building Block #2 – PEACE

We must learn to host the Spirit of God in our home and in our church.

How do we violate the presence?

1. GRIEVING

30 The Holy Spirit of God has sealed you in Jesus Christ until you experience your full salvation. So never grieve the Spirit of God or take for granted his holy influence in your life. 31 Lay aside bitter words, temper tantrums, revenge, profanity, and insults. 32 But instead be kind and affectionate toward one another. Has God graciously forgiven you? Then graciously forgive one another in the depths of Christ’s love.

Ephesians 4:30-32 (TPT)

2. QUENCHING

16 Let joy be your continual feast. 17 Make your life a prayer. 18 And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus. 19 Never restrain or put out the fire of the Holy Spirit. 20 And don’t be one who scorns prophecies, 21 but be faithful to examine them by putting them to the test, and afterward hold tightly to what has proven to be right. 22 Avoid every appearance of evil.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 (TPT)
  • Grieve – wrong attitudes, thoughts, behavior, values and plans
  • Quench – by not responding to His leading and empowering presence.

Adoration and affection for Jesus draws Him close.
