When a Little Sprinkler Becomes a Big Deal
We are thrilled with how The Restoration Project is coming along!
Tremendous progress has been made over the past couple of years with over 500 attending our holiday events this past weekend. One comment we hear again and again is how wonderful it is to see this historic structure being repurposed and opened again to the public. This tells us that all the hard work and investment is paying off, but we have a long way to go before we create the facility that we dream of.
One pressing issue we currently face is our sprinkler system. This past summer nearly $20,000 was spent to bring the existing system up to current code. However, that did not alleviate the concern that some of those pipes exist in spaces that are not yet heated. Missouri winters can be brutal, and pipes in unheated spaces can freeze and burst leading to significant damage and added expense.
So far this winter has been very mild…but colder weather will soon be upon us. Next week’s nighttime temperatures are forecast to drop into the teens, leaving our system extremly vulnerable. The good news is that we can upgrade to a “dry system” and eliminate the risk of freeze damage for just $7,000. A small investment to prevent a big liability.
