Observations on a great first weekend!

WOW!!!  What a great inaugural weekend for the newly retooled RESTORATION KIDS!

It was so fun watching the kids (and adults!) enjoying the newly finished and expanded classroom spaces. Thank you to everyone who served and helped make the first weekend a great success.

An important part of this pioneering journey is discovering where improvements are needed and working towards solutions that allow us to serve everyone more effectively.  With that in mind, here are a few areas we wanted to highlight and clarify the process:

 • We understand everyone was SO excited to see the new kid’s spaces last week…and rightly so!  Remember – if you are not scheduled to serve in the kid’s rooms, please do not hang around in or outside the rooms.  This will help minimize congestion and chaos in the space.

This is also a safety concern. We are all familiar and comfortable with each other, but we need to set the precedent now.  As we grow and more people are coming in, the children’s area must be kept secure.  Tthose serving in the rooms need to have their full attention on the kids, and not be distracted with friends dropping by.  You can visit before or after service but not while children are in the classrooms.

Lanyards provide access to the particular area that you are serving in. If you’re not serving in that area that week you shouldn’t be in the kid’s rooms – even if you have a lanyard.

• If you have a child who will go up to the elementary room, please make sure they do not hang out next to the door by the nursery before or after service. A section is reserved for elementary students to sit together during worship. Volunteers for that week will sit in that section with them.

If you see kids gathering in the south lobby area, you can help by directing them back to their parents or to the elementary section. This will help keep traffic down in the south lobby.

• There was some confusion as to which age ranges are for which rooms. The ranges are:  Nursery: 1-23 mos; Toddler: 24 mos – PreK; Elementary: Kindergarten-5th grade. 6th grade students serve as helpers in the elementary room.  With the ranges so wide, it’s important to keep the kids in the room assigned to their age.

• Dismissal of elementary kids after service was a bit chaotic. We are working on solutions to make that process flow more smoothly.

• Finally, to address our need for new gear in the nursery and toddler rooms, we have set up a registry at Target. You can search by name, “Restoration Church”, or can search by date, which is March 29th.  We greatly appreciate anyone willing to provide items from the list. Gift cards are also helpful if you would like us to do the shopping for you.  Here is a link: Target kids registry

Thank you so much for your patience during this transition period. The overwhelming positive feedback from the first week of operation tells us that we’re on the right track and greater progress will come as we iron out the bugs.  It’s exciting to see the Lord growing and stretching us – preparing us to love and serve more people.  You are an integral part of this team and we are grateful to be on this journey together with you.

See you Sunday!!
